HITC Sport understands Nottingham Forest are set to sign Wolves loanee.

Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Joao Teixeira from Benfica, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Wolves boss Paul Lambert has already made clear that he was willing to let Teixeira leave as he did not figure in his plans going forward at Molineux.

Teixeira has joined Wolves on a season-long loan from Benfica last summer and he featured in all 17 of Walter Zenga’s matches but has only played three times off the bench for Lambert.

Wolves have now cancelled his loan deal with Benfica allowing Teixeira to find a new club and Forest have moved quickly to agree a loan deal of their own for the central midfielder.

Forest are looking at reinforcements before the close of the transfer window and made a new midfielder one of their main priorities and Teixeira has emerged as their top target.

Sources have told HITC Sport that Teixeira is currently undergoing a medical at Forest and is poised to become their first signing of this month’s transfer window.

Teixeira made 20 appearances in all competitions for Wolves, scoring two goals during his time at Molineux, but he now looks set to stay in England with Forest.
