Leeds United sold Liam Kitching to the League Two side during the summer.
Liam Kitching wasn’t the most high-profile departure from Leeds United this past summer.
The 19-year-old, who hadn’t made a debut for the Championship club, joined Forest Green on a permanent deal in July.
And it looks like the Leeds product is impressing with the League Two side, starting in their 1-0 win on Saturday.
His manager, Mark Cooper, expects him to develop into a tidy player, even if he’s a touch raw at the minute.
He told Stroud News: “He’s a young and sometimes they can be rash, but he’s learning. Second half he stood off a bit, didn’t get too tight. He’s going to be a good player I think.”
Kitching had two years left on his Leeds contract at the time of his exit, but leaving was definitely the right choice.
Marcelo Bielsa has plenty of left-back options at Thorp Arch, including Leif Davis who is younger than Kitching, and it just wasn’t looking great.
He could’ve done another season with the Under-23s or gone out on loan again, but playing regularly in League Two might be much better for his development than both options and time will tell how he matures.
