The Reds official website urged fans to “respect the culture of the Greek people and behave accordingly”, which some supporters found patronising.

A number of Nottingham Forest fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the club’s communication to the Reds supporters attending the pre-season friendly against Olympiacos in Athens on Tuesday evening.
The Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium will play host to the Trickies’ second pre-season fixture of their training camp in Greece, with the most successful football club in the nation’s history providing the opposition.
With plenty of Forest fans expected to make the trip to the Olympiacos ground for the high-profile friendly, the club posted an announcement on Monday night urging fans to “respect the culture of the Greek people and behave accordingly”.
“As with many European cities the rituals and customary behaviour can be very different to what we know in the UK,” wrote the club on their website. “With this in mind we urge supporters attending the match to be mindful of this and to respect the city of Athens and its residents.
“The players and everyone connected to the club are very proud of our away support and we hope to again have a strong following throughout our 2019-20 campaign away from The City Ground.”
Here is what some Forest fans wrote in reply on the social media platform:
Forest’s first friendly in Greece saw them coast to a 3-0 win over Atromitos and, prior to that, they had drawn 0-0 with Dundee and beaten Alfreton Town 2-1 earlier in pre-season (official Forest website).
After the Olympiacos game, Sabri Lamouchi’s charges will face Crystal Palace, Mansfield Town, Real Sociedad and Lincoln City before hosting West Bromwich Albion at the City Ground in their first Championship game of 2019-20.
