Thierry Henry has claimed that it will ‘for sure’ be difficult for Mo Salah and Sadio Mane in the Liverpool dressing room, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (16/02/22 at 7:25 pm).

The former Premier League striker was making reference to Mane winning the Africa Cup of Nations title and how ‘every time’ Salah will now look over in the changing rooms, he will see that his Liverpool teammate beat him to that crown.

It has been a number of weeks since the dust has settled on the African continent when Senegal beat Egypt on penalties and Mane scored the decisive spot-kick.

It was heartache for Salah because, not only did his Egypt side lose the final, but he didn’t even get to take a penalty during the shootout itself.

Nonetheless, Henry was asked whether it will be difficult for Mane and Salah in the dressing room and he issued this response.

“Yes, for sure, because every time you are going to look at Sadio Mane,” said Henry. “You are going to see that they won a title against you.

“He has a chance to put it right because they have that game to qualify for the World Cup in Senegal vs Egypt, so let’s see what’s going to happen in March. That’s going to be another one.”

In truth, the recent AFCON final could be a perfect mixture for someone like Jurgen Klopp to deal with.

On one hand, he has a player in Salah, who is hurt from that final, but he will be raring to go so he can unleash all his frustrations out on the pitch.

That bodes well for the Reds and their quest to win perhaps more than one trophy this term, as they are currently in all four.

Then there is Mane, who last season and for parts of this campaign, he has hit dry spells for the Merseyside club.

But that AFCON title, added with being Player of the tournament, might just spark him back to life for the long run.
