Fabrizio Romano has told Sky Sports that Wolverhampton Wanderers are not in advanced negotiations to sign Diego Costa.
Costa has emerged as a potential target for Wolves, following the termination of his contract at Atletico Madrid.
The powerful forward apparently would love to return to the Premier League this month.
However, Romano insists that Wolves are still some way off striking any deal with the 32-year-old.
“He’s hoping to receive a bid from the Premier League. I don’t have anything confirmed from Wolverhampton,” Romano said.
“We had a lot of rumours about Wolves for Diego Costa but there is nothing advanced at the moment. But for sure, Diego is waiting for a call from the Premier League.”
If Costa, who was labelled as ‘top quality’ by Arsene Wenger (Guardian), was to join Wolves he could help to improve the quality of their attacking ranks.

Since the loss of Raul Jimenez, Wolves have not looked such a dangerous opponent, as Fabio Silva has struggled to lead the line.
Nuno’s side have missed Jimenez’s physicality up top, but Costa could help them in that regard.
Although the former Chelsea man is now reaching the twilight of his career, he still has the presence to cause problems.
And as a short-term solution he could prove to be a valuable addition to Wolves’ side.
