Ajax wonderkid Ryan Gravenberch has been speaking about his future, amid interest from Liverpool and Tottenham.
During a chat with AD.nl, the 19-year-old made an interesting – but admirable – comment.
What’s the story?
Well, it was Soccer News who revealed that Liverpool are interested in signing the 10-cap Netherlands international.
Elsewhere, Calciomercato claimed that Tottenham want to bring Gravenberch to the Premier League.
Now, the teenager has opened the door to leaving Ajax, but on one condition.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Gravenberch said: “I don’t know if I will leave in the summer. What I do know for sure is that I won’t leave Ajax if they don’t get anything back. I can’t leave on a free transfer. This won’t happen.”

It is great to see the Dutchman – who has been compared to Paul Pogba – put Ajax first.
The exciting midfielder has been with the Eredivisie giants since he was eight years of age, and he’s clearly keen to see them compensated well for their efforts in developing him.
So far this season, the Ajax No.8 has made 30 appearances in all competitions, scoring once while providing four assists.
Liverpool and Tottenham could sign Ryan Gravenberch soon
Gravenberch’s comments could be taken in a number of ways.
As things stand, his contract is set to expire in June 2023.
Therefore, Gravenberch is either telling those interested in him to make a move this summer, when his value is still high, or he’s saying that he plans to sign a new contract to preserve his value beyond 2023.

Whatever happens, it definitely sounds as if the youngster is ready to take the next step in his career, as long as Ajax receive a reasonable transfer fee.
Keep an eye on this saga, as Gravenberch could leave as soon as this summer if he has no intention of signing a new contract.
