Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jesse Marsch has confirmed that Patrick Bamford will come off of the bench to feature against Aston Villa on Thursday.
Bamford has been out injured for quite some time now, but he’s ready to make his first appearance under the new manager on Thursday.
The England international was on the bench against Leicester, and while he didn’t get on the pitch against the Foxes, Marsch says he will be involved off the bench against Villa.
What’s been said?
Marsch confirmed that he plans to substitute Bamford on against Villa.
“Yeah, Patrick will play tomorrow for sure, he won’t start, but he will be ready from the bench, and we’re excited to have him back in the team and I think he will give us a real boost,” Marsch said.

Perfect platform
Bamford probably couldn’t ask for a better team to return against.
The Englishman has a bit of a score to settle against Villa, and he’s also got a very nice record against the Midlands club,
He netted a hat-trick against the Birmingham-based outfit last season, while he famously faced a retroactive suspension back in 2018/19 for deceiving the match official in a game against Villa.
Bamford and Steven Gerrard’s team have quite the history, and the striker will be wanting to settle a score here.
This is the perfect game for Bamford to return into.
