Frank Leboeuf has claimed that Tottenham ‘wouldn’t accept’ someone like Diego Simeone as their manager if he were to join a Premier League team down the line, as he told ESPN.

The former World Cup winner thinks Simeone’s defensive style is something the Spurs faithful wouldn’t like, but he could see him working at Manchester United.

Tottenham are pretty happy with the coach they have in their dugout – Antonio Conte – who has transformed the club since joining in November.

Whereas, Erik ten Hag has just taken the hotseat at Old Trafford and it will be interesting to see how he is going to be viewed by fans down the line.

Either way, when discussing the future of Simeone and a Premier League job for the Argentine down in years to come, this is what Leboeuf had to say.

“For sure, it wouldn’t be Spurs,” said Leboeuf. “Spurs won’t accept a defensive coach, after Jose Mourinho, I think they have had their season with that.

“It’s going to be tough (for Simeone). Why not Manchester United? They need a structure.”

SIMEONE NEEDED IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE

The Atletico Madrid boss knows how to ruffle a few feathers, his teams do it on a weekly basis and they did to high levels in the Champions League last season.

When Pep Guardiola’s side knocked Atletico out of the Champions League, the first and second leg, in particular, didn’t go without its drama, off and on-field antics and tunnel bust-ups.

It’s something that made headlines and perhaps stole the show from the game itself, but that level of entertainment is needed in the Premier League.

Simeone has played winning football with this ultra-defensive and all-out aggressive style, so if he continues that, then it’s only the opposition moaning.

But perhaps he is one to look out for as one of the top coaches in Europe that will one day find himself on Premier League shores.
