Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang won’t be fit enough to play against Manchester City tomorrow night, as per his comments to Football London.
Aubameyang picked up a calf injury which caused him to miss Arsenal’s game against Everton at the weekend.
And any hope that the striker would make a swift return to allow him to play tomorrow, has quickly been quashed by Arteta.
“Auba is not fit for tomorrow, that’s for sure,” Arteta said. “We will see who’s available because we have a few doubts in other positions.”
Aubameyang’s absence is a blow to Arsenal, despite his lack of goals this season.
The rapid striker may not be in the best of form, but his importance to Arsenal’s team is obvious and without him they are much less of an attacking threat.

Arteta started with Eddie Nketiah in Aubameyang’s absence at the weekend, but the youngster failed to impress against Everton, and it will be interesting to see if he keeps his place tomorrow.
If Nketiah isn’t selected to start Arteta could turn to the more experience Alexandre Lacazette or the youthful Folarin Balogun to start up-front.
