Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has suggested that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are now a major threat to Spurs, as quoted in Football.London.
Conte made the comments about Newcastle while analysing the competition that Tottenham are facing now and will face in the future in their quest to be successful.
Newcastle are now under the ownership of Saudi Arabia’s PIF and are very wealthy.
The Magpies made some very good and shrewd signings in January 2022 and in the summer transfer window.
And Newcastle are now getting the rewards.
Eddie Howe’s side are fourth in the Premier League table at the moment with 24 points from 13 matches.
Tottenham are currently third in the standings with 26 points from 13 games.

Conte said: “But honestly I don’t know this [what the club will do in January]. For sure, the life will always be more difficult in the future.
“For sure, Tottenham has to have the challenge with a team like Newcastle, also Arsenal.”

They show just how highly Newcastle are now rated in the footballing community.
Gone are the days when the Magpies were relegation candidates.
The Magpies are doing well at the moment, and maybe if they are able to bring in two or three quality players in the January transfer window, then they could even make a real push for the Premier League top four this season.
