Speaking on the Toffee Blues YouTube channel, Kevin Campbell has tipped Antonio Conte to become the next Everton manager.
The former Everton man thinks that Conte is the standout candidate for the job, claiming that he has the CV and track record to be a fantastic gaffer at Goodison Park.
What’s been said?
Campbell was speaking about the state of the club after Ancelotti’s departure, and inevitably, he was asked about who he thinks should be the next manager.
Campbell backed Conte to be the next boss.
“I think the best one right now is Antonio Conte. He’s just left Inter, he won another title there, he’s the one world-class manager who has the record and the resume behind him who you want. You want somebody who has won trophies, you want somebody who knows how to organise a team. For me he’s number one,” Campbell said.
Better than Ancelotti?
There aren’t many managers in world football who can claim to be better than Carlo Ancelotti, but Conte could certainly put forward a strong case.
The Italian is a multiple-time Serie A winner, a Premier League winner and a successful boss on the international stage.
Of course, Ancelotti is one of the greatest managers in history, but in terms of recent tacticians, Conte ranks up there with the world’s best.
Is he going to get the Everton job? Well, it looks as though he’s in line for the Spurs job right now, but nothing is confirmed on that front as of yet, so a late swoop from the Toffees isn’t entirely out of the question.
