West Ham United are reportedly pursuing two West Bromwich Albion players.
West Ham United are bound to be in the market for new signings this summer, and David Moyes is bound to have targets in mind despite the fact that he isn’t confirmed as the club’s manager for next season yet.
The Hammers have endured a disappointing season but look set to avoid relegation to the Championship, and the attention will quickly turn to bringing new signings to the London Stadium.
A new centre back must be brought in given Winston Reid’s injury problems and the imminent departure of James Collins, whilst a striker may also be targeted despite Jordan Hugill’s January arrival from Preston North End.
With that in mind, The Mirror recently reported that West Ham want West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans, with the Daily Mail adding that Baggies teammate Salomon Rondon is another Hammers target.
That would mean raiding the relegation-bound Baggies twice this summer, but release clauses mean West Ham could land bargains with the duo who have been important West Brom players since signing in 2015.
Evans can leave for just £3million when West Brom go down, whilst Rondon’s release clause upon relegation stands at £16.5million, meaning West Ham can land the pair for less than £20million.
30-year-old Evans is a solid Premier League centre back who has starred for West Brom and can help solidify Moyes’ back line having worked together at Manchester United, whilst Rondon – a powerful striker who hasn’t always had the best service at The Hawthorns – would present Moyes with another focal point in attack.
In an overpriced market, West Ham have to work hard to find value, and by taking advantage of release clauses, they could land a smart double deal in Evans and Rondon without breaking the bank.
