Chris Wilder sarcastically stated that Liverpool haven’t been beaten at home ‘for about 17 years’ following Sheffield United’s 2-1 defeat at Anfield on Saturday, as posted by Blood Red.

After coming from behind to seal all three points, Liverpool are now unbeaten from their previous 62 league games on home soil.

It is some feat for Jurgen Klopp’s men, who have seen off many threats over the years and are still going strong on Merseyside even though they no longer have fans present.

It’s a case of what could have been for Wilder’s struggling Blades, who had the lead in the game before that potent and ever-dangerous attacking line made sure the three points were coming home.

“It was certainly a better performance than when we came here last year,” said Wilder. “I think we are after three points in every game. But it is the Premier League.

“I don’t think Liverpool have been beaten for about 17 years at home, apparently. It’s difficult to take [the defeat].

“There is one team coming into the game on one point and a team packed full of world-class players.”

Given that Sheffield United came into this game with only one point to their name, they didn’t play like a team who are struggling down the bottom.

It could be argued that they should have scored more during the game but it was just a champions-like performance from the Reds.

As the games go by, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool can extend that home record given that they no longer have that added fear of the crowd behind them.
