For £250,000, Harry Wilson could be superb loan signing for Leeds

Leeds United are reportedly amongst the sides considering a loan move for exciting winger Harry Wilson.

After an uninspiring end to this past season, Leeds face a hugely important summer with the Yorkshire Evening Post recently reporting that a number of their 2017 signings are set to be allowed to leave, while it has taken little time for the Whites to be linked with a host of exciting players.

If Leeds are able to get deals across the line for a handful of those players that they are reportedly linked with, it could be a fantastic window for Paul Heckingbottom’s men. But perhaps few deals could prove to be as impressive – if they manage to get something done – as the one that could potentially see Harry Wilson head to Elland Road on loan.

The Sun on Sunday (20/05; page 67) reports that Leeds are amongst the host of sides keen on signing the highly-rated 21-year-old for next season, with Rangers, Aston Villa and Huddersfield Town also in the mix.

The Sun on Sunday adds that Liverpool would want £250,000 as a loan fee, while they also want to agree on further penalties in case he does not play often enough during his time away from Anfield.

While Leeds would only be getting Wilson for one season presumably, it is surely fair to say that paying the £250,000 to get a deal done seems to be a no-brainer given his form during the second-half of last season.

Wilson joined Hull City in January and scored seven goals from the wing in just 13 appearances for the Tigers to help them avoid getting dragged into the relegation battle in the second tier. He also provided three assists during that spell.

In comparison, five Leeds players scored seven or more league goals, with three players matching Wilson’s tally. And all three of those players – Gjanni Alioski, Pablo Hernandez and Kalvin Phillips – made over 40 Championship appearances this past season.

It must also not be forgotten that Wilson’s handful of appearances often saw him play alongside another Leeds target in Abel Hernandez, with the Yorkshire Evening Post reporting that the Whites are amongst the teams keen on the Uruguayan.

Neither player played a load of games this past season, but they did manage to bag assists for each other’s goals and that could perhaps be a partnership that Heckingbottom wishes to build on next season.

Hernandez will undoubtedly be the marquee addition of the pair, but given the fee involved and the quality he showed at the KCOM, there should be no doubt that Leeds signing Wilson on loan has the potential to be a masterstroke from the Whites if they win the race.
