According to Sky Sports, West Ham have been in talks with Bayer Leverkusen about potentially bringing Javier Hernandez back to the Premier League. But given the fee required to trigger his release clause, Southampton should surely consider getting involved in the chase for the Mexican.
Hernandez showed during his time with Manchester United that he can be a brilliant poacher, often finding himself in the perfect position to finish off a chance.

He scored 37 Premier League goals during his time with the Red Devils, and those statistics arguably become more impressive when you consider that he began more than half of his 103 top flight appearances for the club on the bench.
He has hit double figures during both of his seasons in the Bundesliga, so it surely should be considered as a no-brainer for the Saints to pursue a deal given the struggles they endured in front of goal during the last campaign.
The St Mary’s outfit only scored 41 goals in the top flight, and their attacking options have been depleted further by the departure of Jay Rodriguez to West Brom.
