Everton are reportedly willing to sell Davy Klaassen this summer for a bargain fee of £11.6million, just one year after the club bought him from Dutch giants Ajax for a huge £25million – and Wolves should consider a move.
German outlet Kreiszeitung have claimed that Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen are in talks to sign 25-year-old Klaassen, who only managed seven Premier League appearances last term.
The Dutch international, who captained Ajax to the 2016-17 Europa League final, was hardly given a chance after the sacking of Ronald Koeman saw both David Unsworth and Sam Allardyce ostracise him from the side.
It seems as though new manager Marco Silva will be just as unforgiving with the report stating that Everton are looking for less than half the figure they spent to bring Klaassen to Merseyside.
At such a bargain fee, Wolves should consider a move for the box-to-box midfielder in a move that would see Nuno Espirito Santo provide his newly-promoted side with the perfect partner for talisman Ruben Neves.
Klaassen is a classy midfielder, one that knows how to find the back of the net and split open a defence, but is more than capable in filling into deeper midfield and relentlessly battling for possession and protecting the back four.
The out-of-favour Everton star would bring the best out of Neves by doing the running from box to box, giving Neves more time and energy to dictate the tempo with the Portugal international more renowned for his intelligence than his work rate.
Wolves are yet to bring a new central midfielder to the club though they desperately need one, and Klaassen should be high on their shortlist if indeed available for less than £12million.
