Leeds United beat Burton Albion 2-0 at Elland Road this afternoon.

Football League pundit Adam Virgo has taken to Twitter to praise Leeds United after their 2-0 home win over Burton Albion this afternoon.

The Whites were in high spirits having beaten Norwich City in a dramatic EFL Cup tie in midweek, and they kept that momentum going with today’s win.

Garry Monk’s men were left frustrated for 83 minutes, but a foul on Souleymane Doukara handed Leeds a penalty, and Chris Wood stepped up to hand Leeds a 1-0 advantage with just seven minutes to play.

With Burton pushing forward to grab an equaliser late in the game, Leeds caught them on the counter, with Doukara grabbing the second goal to wrap up all three points.

It’s now six wins in the last nine games for Leeds, who are really gathering steam under Monk, and lie just one point off a play-off place.

A top six finish should be Monk’s target, and with Elland Road becoming a real fortress in recent weeks, Leeds are a team that Championship rivals should fear from now on.

After the final whistle today, Football League pundit Adam Virgo – often seen on Channel 5’s Championship coverage – took to Twitter to praise Monk and Leeds for their latest victory.

Virgo stated that it was ‘pleasing’ to see Leeds in such fine form, and is happy to see them challenging for a play-off place after year of underachievement in the Championship table.
