Aston Villa have snapped up Conor Hourihane from Barnsley.
Aston Villa today snapped up midfielder Conor Hourihane from Barnsley – and Football League pundit Adam Virgo has taken to Twitter to offer his verdict on the deal.
Hourihane, 25, joined Barnsley from Plymouth Argyle in the summer of 2014, and enjoyed a superb first two seasons at Oakwell, as he scored 26 goals in two years whilst captaining Barnsley to promotion last season.

The Irishman has made the step up to the Championship by continuing his stunning return, as he has notched six goals and 11 assists so far this term – and that form unsurprisingly attracted major interest.
Whilst he’s been linked with a number of clubs, Aston Villa won the race to sign Hourihane earlier today, handing him a three-year deal after finally agreeing a fee with Barnsley.

Hourihane joins fellow midfielders Henri Lansbury and Birkir Bjarnason in joining Villa this month, and he could make his debut for the club against Brentford on Tuesday evening.
Having worked with manager Steve Bruce at Sunderland, Hourihane looks to be a great signing for Villa, and Football League pundit Adam Virgo has praised the deal on Twitter.
Virgo, often seen as a Football League pundit for Channel 5, took to Twitter to state that it’s a well-deserved move for Hourihane, as he has been ‘fantastic’ this season.
The former Brighton and Celtic defender added that Barnsley will severely miss Hourihane, as his exit is another huge blow having seen James Bree also join Villa this week, whilst star striker Sam Winnall has signed for Sheffield Wednesday.
