A number of League One and League Two clubs are keeping tabs on in-form Halifax Town striker Liam McAlinden, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

McAlinden has been a revelation for National League hopefuls Halifax this season since his arrival on a free transfer from Cheltenham earlier this summer.

The 25-year-old has scored six goals in 11 appearances to help Halifax to second spot in the National League table.

McAlinden’s performances have brought him to the attention of clubs higher up the football pyramid and scouts from several sides are expected to watch McAlinden in action against Harrogate Town on Tuesday night.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international is only on a short-term deal until January at Halifax and the news has alerted a number of his suitors to his availability on a free transfer when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

McAlinden started his career at Wolves, making his debut in April 2013 and scoring twice in 19 games before joining Exeter in 2016 and then Cheltenham two years later.
