Since his £37m move from Porto in January, Luis Diaz has earned comparisons to Luis Suarez at Liverpool.
The Colombia international’s work rate, tenacity and aggression have led to many likening him to the Uruguay international.
On Thursday, Diaz added further credence to these comparisons in Colombia’s 3-0 win over Bolivia.
What’s the story?
Well, the 25-year-old scored a goal which Suarez would’ve been proud of.
Diaz took a long ball down like his boots were cushions, before cutting inside and unleashing an unstoppable shot into the bottom right corner.
Interestingly, it was eerily reminiscent of the goals Suarez used to score for Liverpool, specifically one against Stoke.
You can see the two goals alongside each other below.
In truth, we feel Diaz’s effort was better, as his first touch killed the ball dead, whereas Suarez’s control saw the ball pop up a bit.
Having said that, Suarez did manage to slip a nutmeg in before his shot, so we’ll give him that.
Nevertheless, the similarities between Diaz and Suarez seem to grow with each passing game.

Luis Diaz can outdo Luis Suarez legacy at Liverpool
In our view, Diaz can actually outdo Suarez at Anfield.
It will take a lot for the Colombian to surpass the Atlético Madrid forward’s tally of 82 goals for Liverpool.
However, even if he doesn’t outscore him, we believe Diaz will outdo Suarez’s legacy as he has a better chance of winning silverware with his goals.

Despite Suarez’s brilliance, the side was not set up to dominate England and hoover up trophies like the environment Jürgen Klopp has created.
Therefore, Diaz has the chance to ensure his goals mean more, even if he ends up scoring half of Suarez’s tally.
Whatever happens, the Kop have yet another attacking gem to behold.
