Leeds United have managed to recover well from their terrible start to life under Garry Monk.

Former journeyman pro and Scotland international Chris Iwelumo was speaking live on Sky Sports Now this morning at 10:52 am, and discussed Leeds United’s resurgence in form.

Garry Monk has guided the Elland Road outfit to four successive wins in all competitions, and they now sit in 12th position in the Championship table, in what has been a fantastic turnaround following their appalling start that saw them win only one of their opening six league games.

Iwelumo offered high praise for Monk, and highlighted a key decision made by the Leeds boss following their defeat to Huddersfield Town two weeks ago, telling Sky Sports:

“After the second game of the campaign his job was under threat. What I will say, with Chris Wood, is that he dropped him after the Huddersfield game, and he came off the bench next game and scored. So straight away – good management. No one deserves to play, he’s come on and he’s answered and is now in his best form so far this season. To do the job he’s doing, with that pressure over his head, it’s outstanding.”

The West Yorkshire outfit will be looking to continue their fine run of form when they head to Ashton Gate tonight to take on Bristol City, and a win for Garry Monk’s men would see them leap-frog the Robins in the table.

The Elland Road hot-seat has proven to be a poisoned chalice in recent years, with club owner Massimo Cellino notorious for his hire-fire mentality.

Monk will be hoping that his side can continue their excellent form, and in turn, avoid any kind of negative press regarding his job.

Their game against Bristol City kicks-off tonight at 19:45.
