Newcastle reportedly made an offer for the AC Milan attacker.

Fabio Borini has been quoted by SempreMilan as saying that he never wanted to leave AC Milan despite reported interest from Newcastle United and Chinese Super League side Shenzhen FC.
Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claimed at the start of the window that Newcastle had tabled an offer worth £9million for the 27-year-old, while representatives are said to have also travelled to China to discuss a move.
But talk of leaving Gennaro Gattuso’s side has died down of late, and rumours were certainly put to bed when he opened the scoring in a comfortable 2-0 win over Genoa – seeing out the entire 90 minutes for just the third time this season.
Borini, who has played for Liverpool, Chelsea and Swansea on these shores, was quoted after the match as saying that he never intended on leaving the club and sees his future at the San Siro.
“I was never close to China,” Borini said. “My idea was to stay at Milan. I’m happy for today and the future. This victory is crucial in light of the difficult games that await us because winning in Genoa is always complicated.”

Newcastle are yet to sign any players this month, as owner Mike Ashley continues to frustrate Rafa Benitez and fans alike in the transfer window. Benitez wants a left-back, winger, no.10 and now perhaps another central midfielder.
One-time Italy international Borini would have given him options out wide as well as cover up front – especially with Joselu being linked to China – but it was not to be and the ex-Sunderland star will remain at Milan.
