Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday may have to consider an Ibrox exit this summer.
Rangers have handed Steven Gerrard his first job in management, and one Gers hero is moving on to take his own first steps into the dugout.
Forward Kenny Miller has brought an end to his third spell with Rangers in order to become the new Livingston manager, coming in after David Hopkin left following the club’s promotion.
Livingston will be up against it in the top flight, and Miller faces a real fight as player/manager, though he has already been given one favour by Rangers.
Young striker Ryan Hardie has joined Livi until the end of the season, having hit eight goals in 14 games on loan there last term – but Miller may need more yet.
Rangers may look to send other players to Livingston, and one player who may be something of a coup for the club is midfielder Andy Halliday, who is surplus to requirements according to The Scottish Sun.
Halliday, 26, joined Rangers on a free transfer from Bradford City in 2015, but spent the first half of last season on loan with Azerbaijani side Gabala, and will head into the new season with a host of midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order.
A boyhood Rangers fan, it may not be easy for Halliday to leave Ibrox, but heading back to former club Livingston – where he made his name with 17 goals in 50 games – alongside ex-Rangers teammate Miller should be worthy of his interest, especially now they’re in the Scottish Premiership.
Wages may be a problem for Livingston, and Halliday may be aiming higher himself, but Rangers would almost certainly cover some of the cost and give the midfielder the platform to go and play – and returning to his former club makes plenty of sense for a player Gerrard seemingly isn’t too keen on.
