According to a report from Turkish media outlet Sabah, Leicester are lining up a summer swoop for Besiktas centre-back Domagoj Vida, and what a superb signing he could prove to be for the Foxes.

The 29-year-old only joined Besiktas in January 2018 from Dinamo Kyiv, and he has gone on to make 14 appearances for the Turkish side.

His performances for Croatia at this summer’s World Cup in Russia have been to such a high standard, though, that many clubs around Europe have taken notice.

Turkish publication Sabah claims that Leicester are one of those clubs, and they have made an offer of €12 million (£10.6 million) for his services.

With Robert Huth reportedly on his way out of the King Power Stadium, the addition of another established centre-back will be vital for Claude Puel’s side, and Vida would fit the bill perfectly.

He is an uncompromising defender in every sense, and seemingly possesses all of the attributes required to be a success in the Premier League, what with its robust nature.

The experienced defender would provide fantastic competition for Wes Morgan and Jonny Evans at the heart of the Foxes’ defence, and he would surely prove to be a real hit in the east Midlands.

Leicester will not have things all their own way in the race for Vida’s signature, however, with West Ham, Everton and Fulham all interested in signing him, according to Sabah.
