Manchester City have confirmed that John Stones has signed a new long-term contract with the club, and with it, and increased wage.
As reported by the Athletic, the England international will now earn £250,000-a-week with the Premier League champions. The wage increase with make Stones one of the best-paid defenders in the division.
The 27-year-old centre-back was one of City’s best players last season as Stones, alongside Ruben Dias, were pivotal in the Manchester giants claiming their fifth Premier League title.
The duo formed the best defensive partnership in the division as Pep Guardiola’s side steamrolled their way to the league title.
Moreover, Stones has been awarded for his impressive form with a new contract and wage increase.
Indeed, the defender was also key to England’s run to the Euro 2020 final. Alongside Harry Maguire, Stones conceded just two goals all tournament.

Although it is encouraging that Stones will remain a City player for years to come, some fans on social media are stunned over how much the defender will now reportedly earn.
A £250,000-a-week wage makes Stones one of the club’s highest-paid players. And fans think that this figure was way too high for a centre-back.
