Arsenal are interested in signing the Barcelona midfielder, according to reports.

According to a report from respected football expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal are keen on signing Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes this summer, but the Gunners should be wary of bringing the Portugal international to the Emirates.
Unai Emery has already begun his tenure at Arsenal in earnest, bringing in Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulos, but his business seems to be far from complete.

The Spaniard is desperate to bolster his midfield ranks at the Emirates, and Gianluca Di Marzio claims that he has identified Barcelona’s Andre Gomes as a key target.

The 24-year-old’s woeful form for Barca since moving to the Camp Nou from Valencia in 2016 should serve as a stark warning for the Gunners, however.
Gomes has managed just three goals and four assists in 78 appearances for the Catalan giants – a rather meagre tally for a so-called attack-mined midfielder.

The Portuguese has looked somewhat laboured and lethargic for Barca over the past two years – something that should raise a red flag, considering the jump up in intensity that a move from La Liga to the Premier League would entail.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Gomes could be available for around £35 million this summer, and that would be a lot of money to pay for someone who has produced so little over the past two seasons.
Arsenal would be better off avoiding a move for the Barca midfielder, and instead focus their attention on wrapping up a deal to sign Sampdoria ace Lucas Torreira.
