Arsenal talent Bukayo Saka has sadly been the subject of online abuse after failing to score in England’s penalty shootout defeat to Italy.
England took on Italy in Sunday’s Euro 2020 final and took the lead through Luke Shaw, only for Leonardo Bonucci to bag a second-half equaliser.
The game went all the way to penalties, and Italy ran out winners as Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka all failed to score.
Rashford hit the post before Gianluigi Donnarumma saved from Sancho and Saka, with a real furore over that last penalty.
19-year-old Saka only has a handful of England caps to his name but was charged with the task of taking England’s fifth penalty, the crucial one – and his effort was saved by Donnarumma.
Some feel that more experienced players should have been stepping up before Saka, but the Arsenal teenager had the courage to take a crucial spot kick; sadly, it didn’t go to plan for him.

Saka has unfortunately received ridiculous abuse online, leading to many players rallying around him – and Folarin Balogun has followed suit.
Balogun has come up through the Arsenal ranks with Saka, and took to Twitter to send him a message, praising him for his strength and bravery whilst urging him to keep his head up.
