Wes Foderingham has responded after he was accused by one of his Instagram followers of ‘disrespecting’ the Rangers fans.
Foderingham received a barrage of replies, most of them positive, after posting on the social media site in the wake of his first 90-minute display for Sheffield United, the club he joined after his Rangers deal expired in June, on Tuesday.
But one of them alleged that, following his move south of the border, the English goalkeeper had claimed in a statement that “he could now challenge for things (‘)cause at the start of every season we (Rangers) couldn’t win anything”.
Foderingham’s apparent remarks were described as being “out of order” and “disgusting”.
But the 29-year-old, who played close to 150 games for Rangers, interjected.
“Fake statement”, he wrote. “(N)ever said any of that”.
Foderingham ended his Rangers career as second-choice and could find himself in a similar position at Sheffield United, who are reported to have paid around £18 million for another new ‘keeper, Aaron Ramsdale.
Simon Moore and Michael Verrips are the other senior shot-stoppers currently on the Blades’ books.

Jon McLaughlin joined Rangers as Foderingham’s replacement and has impressed with five clean sheets in his first five games for Steven Gerrard’s side.
