Newcastle United haven’t enjoyed the best start to the Premier League season, but Florian Lejeune has at least offered some good news.

The Magpies lost 2-1 at home to Arsenal on Saturday, meaning they have picked up just one point from their first five games of the season.

Rafael Benitez’s men aren’t being hammered though, and each of their defeats have come with a 2-1 scoreline, showing the fine margins that are keeping Newcastle from a first win.

Better play at the back or in attack could help Newcastle, and Benitez has been handed a boost in defence with Lejeune stepping up his comeback.

The Frenchman suffered ligament damage in a pre-season friendly at the end of July, and was expected to be out for three to five months after surgery.

However, Lejeune is already stepping up his comeback after just six weeks out, as he posted a video on his Instagram of him training with a ball for the first time since his injury.

Lejeune may still be at least a month away from a first-team return, but he is heading in the right direction – and after a miserable start to the season, this is the great news that Newcastle fans have been needing.
