According to The Chronicle, free agent Florent Indalecio thinks that he will be signing for Newcastle United following a trial spell.

The Magpies have been quiet transfer-wise for a while now, having brought in Callum Wilson and Jamal Lewis as cash signings along with freebies Mark Gillespie, Jeff Hendrick and Ryan Fraser.

It’s hard to see Steve Bruce pushing for another cash signing in the final week of the domestic window, but there could be a left-field addition to come.

Newcastle took unknown 23-year-old playmaker Indalecio on trial in September, and he made waves having scored an overhead kick during training.

His story is pretty remarkable; he was in the Saint-Etienne youth ranks alongside Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin, but was dismissed due to bad behaviour.

Indalecio began working as a builder in Australia whilst playing amateur football with Fraser Park FC, and could now join Newcastle thanks to Saint-Maximin landing him a trial.

Now, Fraser Park captain Alexis Wenzel has told The Chronicle that he has spoken to Indalecio, and he is confident that he has landed a one-year deal at Newcastle having smashed his trial.

Indalecio has other offers in England, but he seems confident that he will be signing for Newcastle, most likely heading into their Under-23’s.

“It went well. He was calling me every couple of days,” said Wenzel. “He was saying he gave 200% so he’s got no regrets. He thinks he smashed it actually. He believes he did really well, however he knows he’s done his job and it’s now out of his hands.”

“He’s confident, he told me now my agent is going to see how it goes. That’s why he wants to take his time, he received some other offers in the UK. I feel they’re going to give him a one-year contract,” he added.
