Fleetwood Town are reportedly interested in signing Everton youngster Tom Cannon on loan, with the attacker recently making his senior debut for the Toffees in both the League Cup and the Premier League.
According to the Sun, the League One side are eager to add to their forward ranks in January, with Cannon emerging as a top candidate for the Lancashire-based side as the striker this week made his bow in the senior game for Frank Lampard’s squad.
The Republic of Ireland youth international came off the bench in Everton’s 4-1 loss to AFC Bournemouth in the League Cup as Cannon once again featured for the Merseyside giants against the Cherries this weekend in a 3-0 defeat to the Vitality Stadium side.
With nine goals in all competitions this season, including three in the EFL Trophy against the likes of Morecambe and Hartlepool, Cannon is making quite a name for himself at youth level this season. And now, Fleetwood are keen to take the 19-year-old on for the second half of the season.

Indeed, Scott Brown’s side have struggled for goals this season, with Fleetwood bagging just 19 in the division, fewer than 23rd-place Burton Albion. And signing Cannon could be a great move from the Celtic legend in the January window, with the striker seemingly ready for his first full leap into professional football.
Hailed by former Everton youth coach David Unsworth as a ‘dangerous’ attacker, Cannon has the potential to become quite the poacher at a top-level with the right development plan. And amid interest from Fleetwood, Everton should be open to loaning out the teenager to League One.
Fleetwood signing Tom Cannon could be perfect for Everton talent

A loan move to the EFL is arguably one of the safest bets a Premier League side can make on a promising youngster, with Everton alone sending Niels Nkounkou, Ellis Simms and Nathan Broadhead out to sides in the lower tiers already this season. And Cannon could be the latest to join the growing list.
Whilst minutes off the bench in the Premier League are impressive for a talent like Cannon, regular minutes for a top side like Fleetwood under a coach as experienced in the game as Brown will be perfect for the teenager’s development. And the striker should be hopeful that he wins a move in January.
