Leeds United won 4-3 against Liverpool at Elland Road in the Premier League in November 2000.
Dietmar Hamann has revealed on Paddypower.com that the defeat to Leeds United back in November 2000 spurred on his Liverpool team.
Hamann featured for Liverpool in the 4-3 defeat to Leeds away from home at Elland Road.
The Reds were in good form heading into the Premier League match and were looking for their sixth successive victory.
The Merseyside outfit went into an early two-goal lead through Sami Hyypia and Christian Ziege, but eventually they ended up losing 4-3.

Mark Viduka was the star of the show, as he scored all four goals for Leeds.
Liverpool, though, recovered from the defeat and went on to win the FA Cup, the League Cup and the UEFA Cup during the 2000-01.
Hamann has revealed the effect the defeat to Leeds had on the Liverpool team.
“When we lost 4-3 to Leeds after losing a similar advantage in November 2000, Gerard Houllier was majorly disappointed with us,” Hamann wrote on Paddypower.com.
“Leeds had a very good side then, but we should have never given that away. But it’s all about how you come back from these kind of setbacks.
“We went and won three trophies in that campaign – the FA, League Cup and Uefa Cup. The defeat spurred us on, and taught us a lesson about what we have to do in the future if you aspire to bigger and better things.”
Liverpool are going strong in the Premier League at the moment and are in the running for the title.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently second in the standings with 31 points from 14 matches, just three points behind leaders Chelsea.
