Tottenham secured top place in Champions League Group H with a 2-1 victory away to Borussia Dortmund last night, with manager Mauricio Pochettino now afforded the luxury of being able to rest some of his stars for next month’s game at home to APOEL Nicosia.
Pochettino has some talented youngsters at his disposal and here are five prospects who deserve an opportunity to impress against the champions of Cyprus.
Juan Foyth
A composed centre-back, Foyth has so far only featured in the Carabao Cup for Tottenham since his summer switch from Estuidantes.
It is evident that the 19-year-old is still rather raw but the game against APOEL is a chance to assess him further ahead of a hectic schedule during which he might need to be called upon.
Georges-Kevin N’Koudou
N’Koudou’s Tottenham career has yet to spark into life after he joined from Marseille last year and the skillful winger has found playing time difficult to come by.
Having featured as a substitute in the reverse fixture against APOEL, N’Koudou will hope to be involved from the outset when the sides meet again.
Kyle Walker-Peters
Tottenham already possess great depth in the wing-back positions but Walker-Peters has the potential to eventually become a regular himself.
The 20-year-old started Tottenham’s opening Premier League game away to Newcastle United but has been used sparingly since and would relish the opportunity to play against APOEL.
Anthony Georgiou
A London-born midfielder of Cypriot descent, Georgiou made his senior Tottenham debut away to APOEL and will be hopeful of further game time against the same opponents.
Georgiou, who is a fine dribbler, could well head out on loan in the second half of the season after recently signing a new contract but he will be hoping to gain some more first-team experience before that.
Tashan Oakley-Boothe
Part of the England U17 World Cup winning squad, Oakley-Boothe has been on the bench for Tottenham in the Premier League and the Champions League this season, while he made his senior debut as a late substitute in the Carabao Cup victory over Barnsley.
The 17-year-old is highly regarded by Pochettino and will be aiming to at least make the bench against APOEL.
