Who have been Norwich’s worst five players over the last five years?

In recent years, Norwich City have replaced West Brom as the Premier League’s yo-yo club. Norwich fans have had to endure the frustration of failing to solidify their top-flight status.

The fight for survival or promotion is never helped by poor recruitment or underwhelming performances, but the Canaries have seen plenty of both over the last five years.

Here are 5 players who failed to help Norwich shed that dreaded yo-yo tag.

Luciano Becchio

The striker had an impressive start to his career in England, scoring 75 goals for Leeds in 190 appearances. The Argentinian was loved at Elland Road, but he could not turn down the opportunity to join Premier League side Norwich in January 2013.

Becchio struggled to break into a thriving Chris Hughton side, though. Norwich finished the season in 11th but Becchio failed to add a single goal for his side. Becchio was later loaned out to Rotherham before being released at the end of the 2014-15 season.

Ignasi Miquel

Norwich signed promising young defender Miquel from Arsenal in the summer of 2014, with the Spaniard joining Neil Adams’ side on a three-year deal. However, he only made two cup appearances for the club, both coming in dismal defeats against Shrewsbury and Preston in cup competitions.

Miquel’s forgettable spell with the Canaries was ended when he agreed to terminate his contract – two years early.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel

When Norwich snapped up the striker for a fee of £8.5m from Sporting CP in 2013, it was deemed by many to be a big coup for the club.

Van Wolfswinkel arrived with a proven goal-scoring record in the Dutch and Portuguese leagues, and Norwich fans hoped he would finally end their Premier League woes in front of goal.

But it wasn’t to be. Norwich were relegated and Wolfswinkel only managed one goal for the club, and his return to goalscoring form since returning to the Netherlands this summer has only secured his status as one of the Norwich’s all-time biggest flops.

Johan Elmander

The Swedish forward partnered Van Wolfswinkel during the relegation season of 2013-14. Following his loan switch from Galatasaray, the powerful Swedish target man could not add goals to his game.

Like Van Wolfswinkel, Elmander only managed one goal for the Canaries and his move was not made permanent.

Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe

The Belgian midfielder joined from Club Brugge in the summer of 2014 but struggled through two injury-hit seasons at Carrow Road, which prevented him from making an impact on the first team. 7

This summer he moved to Legia Warsaw ending his disappointing spell at Norwich with only 10 league appearances.
