Tottenham Hotspur had an eventful season and ended up finishing third in the Premier League table.
There will be plenty of things the club will want you to remember about the season, and plenty they won’t
So here are five things Tottenham Hotspur want you to forget about 2015-16…
1) Newcastle United
Newcastle were relegated from the top-flight this season. This was despite the Toon winning twice against Spurs.
Ayoze Perez scored the winner at White Hart Lane whilst Spurs were thrashed 5-1 at St James’ Park on the final day of the season – which saw them bottle a top two finish.

2) Transfers
The transfer activity at Spurs was not great last term.
Heung-min Son had a limited impact, as did Clinton N’Jie. Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier look good arrivals, whilst Toby Alderweireld is an excellent addition, but it was more the lack of bringing in a new striker that left many fans bemused.
Spurs eventually crumbled toward the end of the campaign and shrewder recruitment will be necessary this summer.

3) Europa calamity
Spurs had a genuine chance in the Europa League this season.
However, Mauricio Pochettino’s gamble to rest players against Borussia Dortmund failed and they were dumped out of the competition.

4) Cup failures
Domestically Spurs will not look back on cup campaigns with much joy either.
Arsenal knocked them out of the League Cup early whilst Crystal Palace turned them over in the FA Cup and went on to the final.
Spurs will feel they should have ended up at Wembley.

5) The Wimmer-Vertonghen equation
When Jan Vertonghen got injured in January the Austrian stepped in brilliantly and Spurs continued their good form.
As soon as the Belgian was fit again Wimmer was pulled and Spurs won just two of their six games after Vertonghen came back into the fold.
Keeping faith with the in-form Austrian should have been the play.
