We remember five important Troy Deeney goals for Watford.

1^st Watford goal (vs Notts County – 24^th August, 2010)

Troy Deeney’s first goal for Watford came in a surprise 2-1 League Cup defeat to League One side Notts County.

Deeney gave away the free-kick for County’s second goal before heading home Danny Graham’s cross for a debut goal at Vicarage Road.

Play-off drama (vs Leicester City – 12th May, 2013)

Deeney’s goal against Leicester in the play-off semi-final will go down as one of the most dramatic finishes to a game in footballing history.

Anthony Knockaert had a late chance from the penalty spot to book the Foxes’ place at Wembley. But Manuel Almunia saved his effort and set Watford on the counter-attack. Despair turned into ecstasy, as Deeney slammed in the winner to set off incredible scenes at Vicarage Road.

Promotion winner (vs Brighton Hove Albion – 25^th April, 2015)

As special as Deeney’s goal against Leicester was, Watford’s defeat to Crystal Palace in the play-off final meant there wasn’t a happy ending.

The Watford skipper would have to wait another year to fire his side into the top flight, when Slavisa Jokanovic took his side to Brighton knowing that three points could seal automatic promotion.

Deeney capitalised on a mistake from Greg Halford to hammer home the important first goal at the Amex Stadium. Matej Vydra grabbed a second to wrap up the points, as results later in the day ensured Watford’s promotion to the Premier League.

1st Premier League goal (vs Stoke City – 24^th October, 2015)

Deeney finally registered his first Premier League goal away against Stoke.

The Watford forward endured a frustrating start to the campaign which saw him have 24 shots in 10 games without finding the back of the net. Deeney broke his duck when he combined with Odion Ighalo to tuck the ball past Jack Butland in the Potters’ goal.

Once a bluenose, always a bluenose (vs Aston Villa – 28^th November, 2015)

As a boyhood Birmingham City fan, Deeney’s favourite Watford goal may well be the one he scored at Villa Park last season.

Deeney rose above Ciaran Clark to head home the decisive third Watford goal in front of the Holte End. The moment obviously meant a lot to Deeney – who was booked for his celebration.
