Sheffield Wednesday are flying high in the Championship once again, but not every player has shone at Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday are currently sixth in the Championship table. But while another play-off push appears to be on the cards, not every player in Carlos Carvalhal’s squad has shone this term.

With that in mind, here are five players who will perhaps be disappointed with the form they have shown this season…

Daniel Pudil

Getting Daniel Pudil signed permanently seemed like an extremely smart piece of business from Wednesday given how good he was during his loan spell with the side last season. However, he has perhaps struggled to showcase that same form this term.

Steven Fletcher

Given the clubs Steven Fletcher has played for during his career, there is no question that he should have a better return for the Owls than six goals in 26 Championship games.

Almen Abdi

Considering Almen Abdi cost Sheffield Wednesday a fraction over £3 million in the summer (via transfermarkt), Owls supporters would be forgiven for expecting more from his 13 league appearances. He is yet to score or contribute an assist.

Atdhe Nuhiu

Atdhe Nuhiu arguably has cult-hero status with Wednesday, but there is a growing feeling amongst fans that he has little to offer Carvalhal’s men. The striker has started just twice, making a further 13 appearances from the bench, but is yet to score in the league.

Lucas Joao

While Nuhiu has done little to impress this season, he has perhaps not been the worst performing striker in the Sheffield Wednesday squad. That honour arguably goes to Lucas Joao, who failed to score in 10 appearances in the league – he started seven times – and now finds himself out on loan with relegation threatened Blackburn.
