Leeds boss is battling to save his job.

Leeds United’s problems this season are not Paul Heckingbottom’s fault, but the manager is showing absolutely no sign of turning it around.

He has just two wins since he took over in early February, and Leeds are down in 14th place in the table.

Here are five potential replacements for Heckingbottom if Leeds decide on a new approach…

Nigel Pearson

No nonsense boss Nigel Pearson has the same positive traits as Heckingbottom, just with a better track record and more experience.

He struggled with Derby, but he led Leicester City to promotion, kept them in the Premier League, and created the side which incredibly won the title in 2015/16.

Mick McCarthy

Experienced manager Mick McCarthy is available now after leaving Ipswich Town.

He has managed in the Premier League and the Yorkshireman would shake up the under performing Leeds squad, if he can stomach to work with a director of football.

Slaven Bilic

Former West Ham manager Slaven Bilic is available for work after leaving the Hammers, and is the one ‘foreign coach’ on our list.

The Croatian has good contacts and could attract top players, meaning Leeds would not have to rely on Victor Orta to try and recruit.

Steve McClaren

Ex-England boss Steve McClaren recently admitted he is a Leeds fan, and was spotted at Elland Road earlier in 2018.

He was a contender to replace Thomas Christiansen in January, and while he is a divisive figure, he can’t have done any worse than Paul Heckingbottom has done.

Alan Pardew

Alan Pardew’s time as a Premier League manager appears to have run out after his poor spell with West Brom.

But it is just two years since he was leading Crystal Palace out in the FA Cup Final, and like Tony Pulis recently, and Steve Bruce before him, dropping down into the Championship could give him a new lease of life.
