Tottenham Hotspur could be the former England manager’s next challenge, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Here’s why we think Capello would be a positive step forward for Tottenham

He is a proven winner

Sure, at international level not everybody was convinced about Capello, despite his 66 per cent win rate. But when it comes to club football, there are few who can match his CV. He is a multiple league title winner, in Serie A with Roma and Juventus, and in La Liga with Real Madrid. He would almost bring guaranteed success to Tottenham, and bring knowledge and experience of what is required. He has also managed footballing greats such as Gabriel Batistuta, Raul, and Roberto Carlos, and will help the current playing staff improve as players, and importantly, become winners.

He will be motivated to prove a point

The way things finished with England will no doubt be disappointing for such a proud man as Capello. So what better way to rescue his reputation in England by winning medal’s with a club side. He will be motivated to turn Tottenham into title challengers and could see the job as one last challenge. Surely the challenge of being a league champion in three of Europe’s major leagues is also impossible to ignore. He will also want to make a point to the English press that he is a winner, and did not deserve to be run down as often as he was.

Knowledge of the players

He is set up and ready to go after his time in charge of England. He has been to watch countless Premier League games over the past few years and has to be eager to get involved. He has worked with several Tottenham players with England, such as Kyle Walker, Michael Dawson, Scott Parker and Jermain Defoe, and he will already know exactly how to get the best out of them. He will also have knowledge of opposition attackers such as Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard and will know how they work and how to stop them.

Development of youngsters

Kyle Walker was one of England’s stars who came out and thanked Capello for giving him a chance in England’s first team, along with Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere. That was one of the positive things to take from Capello’s England reign, he was always keen to give youth a chance, and he could continue to do the same at Tottenham, and would surely offer chances to youngsters Jake Livermore and Harry Kane among others to prove themselves.

Star power attracts quality

Fabio Capello is one of the world’s most famous football managers, and he could help Spurs sign the very best players from around the world. He did this at Roma, signing Walter Samuel and Gabriel Batistuta, and at Real Madrid signing Ruud van Nistelrooy from Manchester United. Tottenham are keen to sign the world’s bets young and proven talent, with Eden Hazard one name mentioned, and Capello can only be an asset for the club in doing this.

How would Spurs fans feel about Capello’s appointment, or is Mourinho still the preferred choice if Redknapp leaves?
