The much-anticipated Premier League finally returns this weekend after the early-season international break, with all 20 teams are in action.

In the first round of fixtures since transfer deadline day, all eyes will be on new signings to see if they can perform. Which players should you be looking out for this weekend?

Jack Wilshere

Wilshere joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan from Arsenal on deadline day. The midfielder could be one of England’s brightest stars, but injury has severely hampered his last 12 months and kept him out of Arsenal’s side. Wilshere wasn’t selected in Sam Allardyce’s squad, and his loan move should benefit both Bournemouth and the player.

The real test for Cherries manager Eddie Howe will be keeping the 24-year-old fit. If Wilshere can keep steer clear of fitness problems, then the talented star should shine for the club and be a stand-out man in their side. He is set to make his debut for Bournemouth on Saturday against West Brom.

Manchester City's Kelechi Iheanacho misses a chance to score

Kelechi Iheanacho

There is one game this weekend that all eyes will be on, and that is the all-important Manchester derby. City suffered a blow when it was announced that striker Sergio Aguero is suspended for three matches after the FA took action for his elbow on West Ham’s Winston Reid.

With no Aguero in Pep Guardiola’s side to provide the goals, that leaves 19-year-old Kelechi Iheanacho to step up. The Nigerian has scored 14 goals in just 38 appearances for City, and if he can deliver on Saturday then the striker could determine whether or not City take all three points.

Moussa Sissoko

A dramatic deadline day saw Moussa Sissoka snub Everton and join Tottenham for £30 million from Newcastle United. Questions were raised over the amount of money spent on a player who had a dreadful season at the Magpies, and the focus will be around the midfielder for Spurs this weekend.

The main question is whether or not the 27-year-old on display for the club will be the star player for France at the Euros, or the player who sat back and watched Newcastle get relegated.

Only time will tell if Sissoko can live up to his price tag and perform. Spurs will travel to Stoke and fans will no doubt be watching Sissoko, hoping that manager Mauricio Pochettino’s gamble on the midfielder pays off.

Sam Vokes

A player who stood out in the Euros, Sam Vokes will be remembered for his superb headed goal against Belgium, which fired Wales into the semi-final. Burnley have not had a great start to the season, taking three points from three games, but did pull off a shock victory against Liverpool, in which Vokes got on the score sheet.

Burnley will face fellow promoted side Hull at Turf Moor on Saturday and supporters will be hoping that Vokes will be able to recreate the Euros magic and guide Burnley to victory.

Joel Matip

In February 2016 Joel Matip’s contract at Schalke was closing in on expiry. Considered one of the best centre-halves in the Bundesliga, the Cameroon international wanted to leave the German club and take up a new challenge. Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool swooped in and stuck a deal to sign Matip in the summer when his contract was up.

Many considered it a shrewd piece of business but injuries forced Matip on the sidelines until his belated Premier League debut away at Tottenham. Despite conceding, the 25-year-old had shown enough for many to believe that there is more to come.

A tall presence capable of holding off target men, confident with the ball at his feet, and a major threat in attacking set-pieces, Matip looks like the centre-back Liverpool have been crying out for. Liverpool will face champions Leicester on Saturday in the newly developed Anfield.
