There have certainly been some rash challenges in the Premier League this season, and these lot have been guilty of quite a few of them.

In terms of getting on the naughty list, this group of players are certainly in the running. Their poor disciplinary records so far this season have been nothing short of shocking, and they deserve to be reprimanded. Nonetheless a short ban following every five yellow cards may have to suffice, so without further ado, here are five of the worst, at the time of writing:

Winston Reid – five yellows, one red

Good old Winston Reid has been ever present for West Ham United so far this season – except when he has been suspended! The New Zealand star’is disciplinary record will be less than impressive viewing for Slaven Bilic. Given their poor start to the campaign perhaps the message that needs to be sent to Reid is that staying on your feet isn’t always a bad thing. Either way, he takes joint top in this list.

Marko Arnautovic – five yellows, one red

The other man to now hold that honour is Marko Arnautovic. The forward has always been pinned as a bit of a dirty player, and he’s certainly living up to that stereotype so far this season. When he gets going the Austrian can be a handful upfront, but more often than not he finds himself in the referee’s book as opposed to on the scoreboard.

Steven Pienaar – four yellows, one red

Steven Pienaar’s career seems to have been on a downward trajectory ever since he first left Everton. The South African was once known for his silky skills at Goodison, but nowadays it seems as if the midfielder is more effective as a bone crunching tackler. It has certainly earned him a place in this list, and it seems as if his best days are certainly behind him.

Harry Arter – four yellows, one red

In terms of the future, Harry Arter has been tipped for superstardom following a string of impressive performances for Bournemouth. However in the present day, Harry has picked up quite a few cards as the Ireland international looks to make an impact in the top flight. Whether it’s justified or not, Arter needs to be careful that he doesn’t pick up a bad reputation.

José Holebas – seven yellows, zero reds

When it comes to yellow cards – José is your man. The Greek international has certainly been making the headlines since arriving at Vicarage Road, both for good and bad reasons. It’s truly shocking that he has managed to avoid getting sent off so far this season, and it seems as if the 32-year-old’s intention is to pick up a yellow then sit cautiously for the rest of the game.
