Nile Ranger
The striker seems to bounce from one off-field mishap to another, and was back in court this week. Putting his off-field dramas aside for a moment, Ranger is not good enough for Newcastle United, nor is he going to get first team opportunities in the future. He should be sold, to whoever is willing to take him, likely a side in the Championship of lower, and let him rebuild his career.
Xisco
Yes it seems bizarre to many that the Spaniard is still even on Newcastle’s books. He was bought for over £5 million but has spent the last two years on loan at Deportivo La Coruna. Newcastle would offload him in an instance if a decent bid came in, but whether it does is another matter. There is a school of thought that says Xisco should be at least allowed another chance to show what he can do at Newcastle, but whether he is willing to give it a go or push back for a move to Spain is another matter.
James Perch
Without wanting to be too harsh, James Perch is very much a Championship player performing at Premier League club. When he gets off the bench that is. Nottingham Forest fans were perplexed when Chris Hughton signed him, and he has done little to convince onlookers that he belongs at this level. A move back to the Championship to play regular football beckons.
Gabriel Obertan
The French winger has only been at Newcastle for one year, but he had a further two at Manchester United attempting to cut it in the Premier League. He has had slightly more success at Newcastle than he did at United, but remains unconvincing. Perhaps he deserves another year to show what he can do, but don’t expect him to achieve much. If a bid comes in from a French club for him Newcastle should take the offer.
Peter Lovenkrands
The Danish winger has had his moments on Tyneside, but it has only ever felt like he is just filling in. Linked with a loan to Championship side Cardiff, he is another who needs to get back to playing regularly. At the age of 32 he has little to gain from sitting on the bench at this stage of his career, and should explore his options. Newcastle will make signing this summer too, pushing the Dane even further back in the queue.
