The Gunners’ crumbling season has fans and newspapers already speculating on which players will be brought into the club amid reports Arsenal will have nearly £60 million to invest in the squad over the summer.
Here are five players who have today been linked with a move to the Emirates:
Mario Gotze
Club: Borussia Dortmund
Position: Central midfield/playmaker
Age: 19
Asking price: £30-40 million
Will he come?: If Arsenal lodge a bid of that price it may be hard for the Germans to resist, but we can’t see Arsenal ever spending that sort of money on just one player.
Matias Suarez
Club: Anderlecht
Position: Striker
Age: 23
Asking price: £10 million
Will he come?: It was reported in January that Arsenal had already agreed a move for Suarez to sign in the summer, which the player since denied. The player has scored eight goals in the Europa League this season and is highly coveted. If Arsenal can beat the other clubs to it, Suarez would happily sign.
Lukas Podolski
Club: FC Koln
Position: Striker
Age: 26
Asking price: £10 million
Will he come?: Yes, the striker was heavily linked with a move in January, agreed to stay, and promptly fell out with his club. Will be up for a new challenge.
Junior Hoilett
Club: Blackburn Rovers
Position: Winger
Age: 21
Asking price: Available for free in the summer.
Will he come?: Hoilett would love a move to a bigger club, but Arsenal face competition from Spurs and Bayern Munich.
Nicolas Gaitan
Club: Benfica
Position: Central midfield, left wing
Age: 23
Asking price: £30 million
Will he come?: Unlikely, especially if Arsenal fail to finish fourth. Both Manchester clubs are also chasing his signature.
