These five players haven’t made life any easier for Reds fans this season.
Nottingham Forest’s Thomas Lam in action with Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia
It’s fair to say this hasn’t been the most joyful of seasons for Nottingham Forest, with their fans having to endure disarray both on and off the field – at the same time – at many points this campaign.
Players are bound to under-perform, but when it happens on a regular basis, fans start to get irate. These five players have certainly incurred the wrath of the Forest faithful this season.
Nicolao Dumitru
It probably didn’t help Dumitru that owner Fawaz Al Hasawi sold Oliver Burke behind then manager Philippe Montanier’s back, effectively making him a direct replacement, in what looks now like trading in a Bugatti Veyron for a Vauxhall Vectra without an engine.
Dumitru will go down as one of the worst ever Forest signings, however, he still – somehow – managed a goal away at Newcastle, to much amusement among gallow humoured Forest fans.
Derby’s Marcus Olsson in action with Nottingham Forest’s Patjim Kasami
Pajtim Kasami
The most frustrating player seen on Trentside in a long time, the Switzerland international isn’t a bad player – far from it, as his excellent volley against Fulham proves – it’s just he’s painfully inconsistent.
One match he can look the real deal, and show just why big European clubs may be interested in him, then for the next three games, he plays like he’s never seen a football in his life.
Mustapha Carayol
Forest are the 11th professional club that Carayol has represented, and going by his performances this season, it’s very easy to see why he hasn’t settled in one place.
To say some of his performances have been lazy would be putting it mildly, which can be fine if you’re a game changer, but one assist in 12 games suggests strongly that Carayol isn’t of that ilk.
Nottingham Forest’s Vladimir Stojkovic kisses the ball after making a save
Vladimir Stojkovic
They say you have to be a certain breed to be a goalkeeper, and the Serbia international certainly enhances that viewpoint. His story is similar to Kasami’s, in sense that while one minute he can make a world class save, the next he can let in a howler.
Stojkovic is certainly a character, but you feel many Reds fans wouldn’t miss him if he went.
Thomas Lam
In Lam’s defence, he has potential to be a decent player for the club – management need to decide whether he’s a defender or a holding midfielder – but while he’s been adapting to the Championship. the Finland international has been disastrous on a few occasions.
Throw in an awful disciplinary record reading six yellow cards and one red – in just 19 league appearances – and it’s very clear the 23-year-old won’t be winning the Player of the Season award come May.
