The Dutch international has not been a winner since his arrival from Dynamo Kiev.
The Premier League is now five games old and whilst things are still in their early days, as clear from the fact Chelsea are currently hovering above the relegation zone, plenty of other places in the league are starting to look like the norm.
So what can we tell from the statistics after just five games?
For instance, who is giving the ball away more than anyone else?
Well there is no surprise to see that Sunderland, who have struggled to get going in the Premier League this season, have the most wasteful player in the league in Dutchman Jeremain Lens.
| Position | Team | Poss Lost All | Appearances | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jeremain Lens | FW | Sunderland | 120 | 5 | 436 |
| Robbie Brady | MF | Norwich | 110 | 5 | 450 |
| Simon Francis | DF | Bournemouth | 109 | 5 | 450 |
| Matt Ritchie | MF | Bournemouth | 108 | 5 | 449 |
| Dimitri Payet | MF | West Ham | 107 | 5 | 448 |
Sunderland snapped up Lens from Dynamo Kiev this summer in a deal reported by the Daily Mail to be worth around £9 million.
However it seems he is not quite living up to his price-tag as he and Sunderland struggle to produce their best.
Two other new signings make the list. Robbie Brady, snapped up by Norwich City from Hull City this summer, is in second. However a surprise West Ham entrant also features. Dimitri Payet has given the ball away 107 times this season. The Frenchman has been a star for West Ham but it seems he speculates before accumulating.
The other two players both come from Bournemouth, with Simon Francis and Matt Ritchie wasteful in possession.
