Manchester United have enjoyed their brightest season since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho
Under Jose Mourinho, Manchester United have arguably enjoyed their brightest season since Sir Alex Ferguson left his post at Old Trafford.
While several players have impressed for the Red Devils this term, here are the five that could perhaps be the most proud of their form this season…
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Despite being one of Europe’s most prolific goalscorers on a regular basis over the last decade, some actually doubted whether Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be a hit with United. He has put any doubts to bed however, with 15 goals in 24 Premier League games.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Manchester United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is another summer signing who has enjoyed an incredibly impressive first year in England. His goal against Sunderland deserves to be considered as one of the very best of the season.
Juan Mata
Like Ibra, Juan Mata’s chances of success this season were somewhat written off before the campaign began. He had struggled to make an impact under Mourinho at Chelsea and it seemed possible that he would struggle once again following the Portuguese’s appointment. However, the Spaniard has been brilliant, scoring six from midfield to be the club’s second highest scorer in the top flight.
Eric Bailly
Manchester United’s Eric Bailly
Of the summer signings, Eric Bailly’s arrival was perhaps one of the less notable. However, the defender has shone in his first year with United and looks as if he could be a key man for the club for years to come.
Phil Jones
After an unspectacular few years, some were starting to question whether Phil Jones was ever going to realise his potential. This season, he has been a lot more impressive so perhaps he could still realise that potential in the future.
