Liverpool have enjoyed a much more impressive season this term, and this quintet have been crucial to their fortunes.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp
Despite currently sitting fifth in the Premier League, there is no doubt that Liverpool appear to be edging towards becoming something very special under Jurgen Klopp’s leadership.
With that in mind, here are five Reds players who can be proud of the form they have shown this term…
Sadio Mane
Sadio Mane has definitely taken his game to the next level since his summer move from Southampton. He currently tops Liverpool’s goalscoring charts, having scored 11 and contributed four assists in the top flight. His absence in January was considered to be the main reason for their struggles.
Roberto Firmino
Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino
After a somewhat unspectacular season on Merseyside, it is safe to say that Roberto Firmino has certainly stepped up this year. He has scored eight times and is arguably the perfect player to play in that central striker role.
Philippe Coutinho
Philippe Coutinho remains a key man for the Reds. His creativity – he has scored five and bagged five assists in the top flight – remains vital to Jurgen Klopp’s men’s success, and at 24, his best years may now be imminent, which is a frightening thought.
Adam Lallana
Liverpool’s Adam Lallana
No player in the Liverpool squad has contributed more assists than the seven that Adam Lallana has managed this term. When you consider that he has also scored seven goals, it becomes difficult to find an argument when people suggest that he is currently England’s best player.
Joel Matip
Liverpool’s biggest weakness this season has undoubtedly been their defence. However, one member of their back-line who can be pleased with their performances this term is Joel Matip. The centre-back has taken little time to adapt to the demands of the Premier League, and if Klopp can put players of a similar quality around him, the last question mark surrounding the Liverpool squad may be a thing of the past.
