Leeds United have a new manager, and a new era may mean new opportunities for some players.

A number of talented youngsters at Elland Road came through under Marcelo Bielsa. The likes of Jamie Shackleton, Pascal Struijk and Illan Meslier all blossomed under the Argentine, and there’s reason to believe Marsch will be able to continue the former manager’s good work in that area.

Indeed, the American has a great track record of handing out chances to young players such as Erling Haaland, Dominik Szoboslai and Karim Adeyemi, so we’re going to look at five Leeds youngsters he could take a shine to.

Crysencio Summerville

The Dutchman was namechecked by Marsch in his first press conference, and for good reason.

Summerville has been impressing in the U23s for some time now, and with Marsch at the helm. He could get a chance in the first-team.

There’s a lot to like about Summerville, he’s a fast, tricky winger who has even been compared to Raheem Sterling in the past.

Raphinha’s performances have been declining as of late, and if Marsch decides to make a change down the right side, Summerville is poised to take his chance.

Sam Greenwood

Leeds’ first-team haven’t played a game since Marsch’s arrival at Elland Road, but the U23s have.

The youth side drew 1-1 with Tottenham earlier this week, and Greenwood found himself on the scoresheet once again.

This 20-year-old can play as a number 10 or striker, and it has to be said he looks something special.

The former Arsenal man has netted eight goals and assisted a further four in PL2 this term. He’s an incredibly pure striker of the ball, and a brilliant set-piece taker.

Bielsa didn’t give Greenwood much of a chance, but you have to imagine Marsch will have a look at him.

Stuart McKinstry

Stuart McKinstry already has senior minutes for Leeds under his belt, but under a new manager, he could play more regularly.

This player has gone from strength to strength since joining Leeds in 2019.

He quickly made the jump from U18s football to the U23s after joining Leeds, despite being just 16 at the beginning of that season.

Now aged 19, the midfielder remains a regular for the U23s where he has impressed under Mark Jackson.

Mateusz Bogusz

At RB Salzburg and Leipzig, one of Marsch’s favourite players was Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Hungarian was an attacking midfielder full of flair who loved to shoot from distance, and Bogusz is in that exact same mould.

He’s been brilliant on loan in Spain this term, netting four goals and grabbing seven assists, and once Marsch gets to work with him, he could quickly establish himself as a part of his plans.

Unfortunately, Marsch won’t get a look at Bogusz for a little while. He’s currently nursing an ACL injury and won’t return for a while.

Cody Drameh

The youngster has been earmarked as Leeds’ long-term Luke Ayling successor, and with Ayling turning 31 in the summer, it may soon be time to give Drameh a chance.

Like Bogusz, Drameh is currently starring out on loan. He’s a consistent starter for Cardiff in the Championship where he has two assists to his name already after joining the Bluebirds in January.

The Leeds defence needs revamping, and Drameh looks ready to slot in.
