There was not much for Liverpool to get excited about during their draw with Sion, but the performance of Brad Smith was a real positive.
The Australian featured at left-back and barely put a foot wrong as the Reds kept a clean sheet which ensured they finished top of their Europa League group.

Tackling
Smith delivered a crunching tackle at the end of the first half, and led the Liverpool team. He made four tackles, not only the most in his side, but more than the rest of the back four combined.
Crossing
Smith was prepared to get forward, showing his attacking intent, and managed to deliver six crosses. Just two of these found a teammate, but the rest of the Liverpool team could manage eight cross attempts between them. He was the only defender to successfully create a goalscoring chance.
Clearances and Blocked Shots
In his own half, Smith managed five clearances, this was a figure only surpassed by Dejan Lovren (6). He was willing to get his body in front of goal, and was the only Liverpool defender to successfully block a shot.
Dribbling
Smith is also capable of playing as a winger and it showed. He made two successful dribbling attempts – this was the same as the rest of the Liverpool team combined between them.
Touches
Smith’s confidence on the ball resulted in him touching the ball 72 times. This compared favourably to fellow full-back Nathaniel Clyne, and England international with several years Premier League experience, who managed 57 touches.
