Five heroes of the Premier League weekend

Players from Manchester United, Arsenal, Fulham, Chelsea, and West Brom feature on our list…

Ryan Giggs
The Manchester United legend should be on this list purely for playing his 900th game. The fact he netted a 90th minute winner seemed like it was a script pre-written. He has made an outstanding contribution to United this season and it makes you wonder just how much longer he can carry on for.

Bacary Sagna
There were many Arsenal players we could have chosen for this spot, but we value Sagna’s contribution the highest. His charge into the box to head home his side’s first started the comeback rolling, and it turned the game. It was his first ever goal at the Emirates, and what a moment to score it.

Pavel Pogrebnyak
The big Russian makes our list of heroes for the second Premier League weekend in succession. Scoring a winner against his club’s upstart rivals is a perfect way to endear himself to his new fans. He looks a class act and a born goalscorer, and the challenge is now on for him to reach double figures before the end of the season.

Frank Lampard
It’s been a difficult week for Chelsea fans, and Lampard who was dropped again against Napoli and then by England will not have enjoyed it. So a game against Bolton was just what the doctor ordered. It was his 12th against the club, and he becomes the first player in the Premier League to score 10 goals or more nine seasons in a row, a remarkable achievement.

Peter Odemwingie
The Nigerian striker is in rich form, notching five times in just two games. Sunderland were the West Brom strikers’ victims this weekend, and the player will now have his eyes set on overhauling last season’s 15 goal tally.

Who should also be on our list?
